Portugal Pictures
We spent a very relaxing week in Cascais, near Lisbon, after our wedding, and managed to do very little except eat, drink and lie in the sun. Perfect holiday, really. Thanks must go to Jo & James who arranged the wondeful hotel for us! Here are a few of the pictures - there will be more available in the next few days.

Vanessa relaxing in the garden at Residencial Don Carlos
Relaxing in the gardens at our hotel - the Residencial Solar Dom Carlos in Cascais, on a sunny afternoon.
Life really not too bad at all...

When Vanessa said she had an itch to scratch, Dan thought his luck was in...

More sunbathing in our garden. We did quite a lot of this throughout the week, while Vanessa worked her way through the Harry Potter books.

Cascais seafront, Portugal.
The seafront in Cascais. We often stopped for a cold beer in the little tent bars visible to the left of the picture.

Another picture of Vanessa, just for good measure...

Writing postcards with a glass of port in the sun...
Writing postcards in the sun, with sausage, bread & tomatoes for lunch and the bottle of port the hotel gave us
as a honeymoon present. Yes, things were tough and we couldn't wait to come home.

Vanessa pours the sangria at the Cascais marina bar on Thursday night.
On Thursday night we went to the bars by the marina in Cascais, and sat watching the sunset with a jug of sangria.
This turned out to be a lot stronger than the sort you get in England and we were both hammered by 7pm!

Dan & Vanessa on the rooftop at Buchanan's.
The rooftop bar at Buchanan's on Thursday night - we met up with James for dinner and drinks (again).
We had to pay for our holiday somehow...
Money was a problem, so Vanessa set out earn some more...

James, Vanessa & Dan at Buchanan's.
James Groombridge, Vanessa & Dan at Buchanan's on Thursday 27th July 2000. This turned out to be a dry run for the rather large
evening we spent there on Friday, before flying home with equally large hangovers.
